Furthermore, it showed a menu trail for where to go to change the default.but I tried going where it said, but did not find any obvious settings that could be changed there. When I first launched Vlingo, it gave me a menu that let me choose to change the default from "voice command" to "vlingo", and to "always use" this application. I wish I could figure out where that setting is in the system though. And, as you mentioned, it does give the option to take over the default for the bluetooth button. I downloaded Vlingo and have had a bit more success with it than the "voice command" app Motorola has pre-installed. You would think that would be the way to go ! However, when I launch it this way, the app no longer takes voice input from the SENA.Īt this rate, it won't matter how good the headset is (SENA, Cardo, etc), the phone isn't going to get along with it. I can actually launch Google's "voice search" app THROUGH the motorola "voice commands" prompt. What use is a hands free device, if I can only access a dependable app by touching the phone ? ie: swipe to open, and then find the app icon on the home screen.Īny Android gurus out there that have figured this one out ? I've had my Bionic now for about 6 months, and have started to feel like I've finally found something Droid "Can't" do.pun intended. However, I haven't found a way to link the Google "voice search" app to the bluetooth prompt instead of the Motorola "Voice Commands" app. I can launch messages or phone calls from there as well. I can launch navigation from there (telling it the address). If I launch it pressing the button on the phone's screen, it will actually let me operate it directly from the Sena with all of its wonderful capability. The unfortunate part is that the Droid has a "Voice Search" app that is part of the Google OS, and has a very impressive level of accuracy. I've also gone thru its voice "adaptive" tutorial which is supposed to better the accuracy.to no avail.įrom what I've been reading today, the "voice commands" program is pre-installed by Motorola and unique to their hardware, but it can't be changed from being the default app that launches when you press the phone button on the Sena. This system seems about useless, as hardly any of my commands are ever understood over the Sena. I am using a Motorola Droid Bionic, and when I hit the phone button on the Sena, I get a very small list of commands available under a program called "Voice Commands". I also just downloaded the firmware manager and updated to v3.3 (have read about 4.0 being around the corner and I'll keep an eye out for it too). I just pulled my Senas (SMH10D-01B) out of the drawer after a long break and I'm curious if anybody has optimized their use of them on the android platform, specifically the voice command potential.
